Turkish Pide House, Woden

January 23, 2010

On Thursday, the MrMan needed to go to Woden for work so he decided I was to go too and we could have lunch out. I initially thought he meant something in the food court, but we ended up at the Turkish Pide House. This restaurant is located just outside of the fresh food market at Woden Plaza.

We were seated in a corner with walls featuring frescoes painted straight onto the walls. Wooden frames, stained the same colour as the furniture, surround the paintings.

We ordered the ‘Special Lunch Banquet’ for $21.50pp
Entree: selection of dips, kebak and fresh pide bread

Definitely value for money – sooo much food!
Main 1: Mixed pide

Of course, the MrMan can’t have a meal without reading…
Main 2: chicken kebabs, lamb kebabs, rice and vegies

We really could have done with a bigger table and I would have appreciated knowing the soft drinks came in bottles before I ordered a Coke but overall our food was good and the service too. It was a little unsettling being the only ones in the restaurant until right before we left! But it is reasonably priced considering it competes with the cheap-as-chips options of the food court inside the plaza. I can imagine the Turkish Pide House would be a good place to go as a group.

I always get so stuffed going to Turkish places for banquets 🙂

I just made Pide but had never eaten it before – good to see what the restaurant version looks like. My ‘MrMan’ adores Turkish food too.
